Securing Multi-Agent Tools with Proven Automotive Safety Patterns

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) already drafts requirements, code, test cases and safety analyses in many engineering teams. Safety standards assume that the tools behind those work products are deterministic and reviewable. A GenAI tool is neither. At Safetronic 2026, my colleague Vito Magnanimo and I will show how safety design patterns we already trust in the vehicle can make multi-agent GenAI tools safe to use, without asking engineers to re-read everything the tool produces.

Better Data, Better Dialogue: Trustworthy AI for Women's Health

Women spend around a quarter more of their lives in poor health than men, and for many conditions the path to a diagnosis still takes years. One reason is a data problem: women remain underrepresented in clinical evidence, and the symptom patterns that matter most are often the hardest to describe in a short appointment. With the SympATA app, Fraunhofer IKS is developing an AI-supported way to record symptoms over time and give conversations with a doctor a clearer, more reliable starting point.

Modular Software Brings Quantum Computers into Industry

Quantum computers alone cannot solve industrial problems. Only software that translates use cases into suitable algorithms and combines classical and quantum-assisted methods can turn the technology into a practical tool. With the QuaST Decision Tree, Fraunhofer IKS is now providing an open-source framework that helps bridging the gap: it helps users systematically prepare complex optimization problems and identify suitable hybrid solution approaches.

    Interview with Dr. Thomas Wiltschko
»Safety Is Essential for the Acceptance of These Systems«

Dr. Thomas Wiltschko, Manager for Safety of ADAS and AD at Mercedes-Benz AG, is a member of the Safetronic Program Committee, the international conference for the holistic safety of road vehicles. As an internationally recognized expert on ISO 26262 and ISO/TS 5083, he explains in the interview why the interplay of safety standards is essential for a holistic assessment and what opportunities the use of artificial intelligence opens up for the development of safe driver assistance systems.

    Quantum Computing
    Ensuring trustworthiness of quantum AI

As machine learning is deployed in high-stakes , the urgency of increasing its trustworthiness is undeniable. Methods designed to enforce bounded outputs aim to keep model behavior within clearly defined limits, preventing deviations that could lead to severe consequences . A rapidly emerging field of quantum machine learning (QML) inherits these risks and expands both the attack surface and the potential consequences of failure, motivating further research in this area.

Setting the Standard for AI-Generated Control Code

AI is rewriting the rules of software development, but can it safely take the wheel in manufacturing? The partners of the MBO-KISS research project are on a three-year mission to find out. Launched in January 2025, the project is developing benchmarks for reliable, AI-generated control code in mechanical engineering. Halfway through their journey, the team shares an exclusive interim update.

    Artificial Intelligence
Do you trust your AI agent?

With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), so-called AI agents are increasingly finding their way into industrial applications. They independently perform tasks or sub-tasks, such as analysis, planning, or support for development processes. In doing so, they are changing not only workflows but also the requirements for the development and operation of industrial systems. The potential appears to be immense.
