Quantum computing

Quantum computing / Fraunhofer IKS

Quantum computing has the potential to effect radical change in many industries, including automotive, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, logistics and the finance and insurance sector. In particular, the increased computing capacities of quantum computing compared to conventional computers make complex simulations and calculations possible, for example.

Currently, however, a lot of basic research is still needed before quantum computing can become widely applicable, because processes in quantum computers differ greatly from those in conventional computers. Yet even in this early stage of quantum computing, it is important to start thinking about safety. That is why Fraunhofer IKS is carrying out research into safe software applications for quantum computers.
