Tilmann Ochs

Systems Engineer, Quantum-Systems Deutschland

With over two decades of experience at the intersection of computer science, automated driving, and functional safety, Tilmann Ochs has spent his career evolving safety standards to match cutting-edge tech. After studying Computer Science in Munich, he began his career in 2004 at BMW Car IT, developing embedded realtime software and early AUTOSAR architectures, later leading the safety architecture for BMW’s automated driving compute platforms.
Driven by the rise of autonomous driving, he transitioned to the robo-taxi space, first at Audi-backed AID, expanding his scope to fleet road approvals, and later at Argo AI (backed by VW and Ford). At Argo, he focused heavily on software safety, successfully mapping modern, automated software development practices to the rigorous demands of ISO 26262.
In 2022, he joined Fernride as the Director of Systems, Safety and Security, tackling autonomous and teleoperated trucking in industrial environments. In this role, he built and led the team responsible for shaping the company's end-to-end safety and security posture, which led to the first TÜV Süd certification for an autonomous yard truck in port applications.
Following the transition of Fernride to Quantum-Systems Germany GmbH, he now works there as a systems engineer.
