Support us in enabling cloud computing for critical applications like the control of robots. Because cognitive systems react independently and intelligently, they offer new opportunities in many different areas of life. In cyber-physical systems, flexible software architectures can be used to separate physical processes from the controls. The controls are then located outside of the physical machine, such as in an edge or cloud network. With cloud-computing, micro-services and their allocation continuously evolve. However, a holistic view is required to assure the integrity of safety-critical systems. Your results will contribute to our resilient cloud framework and come alive in our industry 4.0 demonstrator, for example, by controlling a robot arm safely and reliably from the cloud.

What we expect from you

  • Experience with the development of web-based user interfaces
  • Knowledge of container / cloud technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Good knowledge of the English language
  • Curiosity, creativity, and the desire to proactively and autonomously organize your work

The Fraunhofer Institute for Cognitive Systems IKS conducts applied research into the topics of tomorrow: artificial intelligence, cognitive systems and intelligent software architectures for autonomous systems.
