Cloud-based systems offer great possibilities: rich resources, wide range of services, and access to various databases. They can be an excellent asset to modern autonomous, safety-critical systems, such as driverless cars, or mobile robots and automated machines in smart industry. Those systems must present highest levels of safety, reliability and performance – so it is extremely important to identify and deal with all of their weaknesses.
In Fraunhofer IKS we investigate how safety-critical functions of autonomous systems can be delegated to the cloud. To achieve this goal, we perform various experiments to find vulnerabilities present in the system, and search for solutions eliminating them. Our objective is to create a database of these solutions – countermeasures. Your task will be development and management of the library of countermeasures. You will implement new features, and gather, categorize and evaluate countermeasures based on our projects and state of the art, integrating this knowledge into the library.
